Restros, hotels, convention centre coming up exclusively on 108 acres in Mihan

Nagpur: Accelerating the development activities in Mihan on the top gear, the key leaders from Nagpur – Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and union minister Nitin Gadkari have now come up series of ambitious projects in the city’s prospering industrial and commerce district. The duo have proposed to develop a world class Nagpur International Convention and Exhibition Centre (NICE) with mono rail connectivity on 108 acres at Mihan.

Besides, Gadkari also suggested 46 acres exclusively for restaurants and hotels in Mihan. Fadnavis and Gadkari held a meeting on Sunday at Ramgiri to review a slew of developmental projects proposed in the city. They also directed the Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC) to plan expansion of MIHAN by getting additional land.

Centre Point Group of Companies in association with US-based Tricon Infrastructures and Prognosis made a presentation about NICE at an estimated cost of over Rs 10,000 crore. It has been proposed with 1.85 lakh sq ft built-up area with a stadium of 25,000-40,000 capacity, convention centre with 10,000 seating capacity, multipurpose halls, food plazas, five-star hotel, commercial plaza, open space for expos, iconic tower with revolving restaurant etc. A mono rail will connect it with new airport and other destinations in Mihan and metro rail stations of the area.

MahaMetro MD Brijesh Dixit and director (projects) Mahesh Kumar made presentation of Telang khedi lake modernization project that was reportedly cleared by the two ministers. The project will likely to commence after monsoon.

Existing road in front of the lake will be turned into a 5-metre high tunnel that will be 2.5 metres below the ground surface.

A 4,000 capacity viewers’ gallery will come up over the tunnel with space for restaurants and parking. Gadkari assured to approve Rs 112 crore from central government for it. Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT) will develop musical fountain and execute beautification works at a cost of Rs 50 crore.
