Nagpur: Heavy rains which lasted for more than three hours in many parts of the city marred the Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar Jayanthi celebrations organized in various parts of the city on April 14, 2015.
At many squares, the followers of Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar had organized free food distribution. The Pandals and Shamiyanas erected for the occasion turned wet and water started leaking from places where water accumulated. This made the organizers of food-distribution to shift their vessels to nearby shops.
Those who had travelled from nearby villages and cities too had to face untold-for harrowing experiences.
The organizers at Deeksha Bhoomi too had to face problems in accommodating Buddhist devotees and other people who rushed inside the buildings to protect themselves from the rain.
Rains have been lashing parts of many parts of Vidarbha for the last one week. Usually this was a phenomenon which used to take place during the evening hours. Many citizens who were returning home from a busy day at work were caught off-guard.
The citizens had stacked away the raincoats, umbrellas for the season. However, the untimely rains lashing out at the city for the past one week had forced the citizens to taken out the rain-wear once again.
