Rag-picker found murdered in Khamla, cops hunt accused

Nagpur: A middle-aged rag-picker was stoned to death by unidentified person(s) in Sonegaon police jurisdiction on Sunday night. The motive behind the murder of the rag-picker identified as Dilip Dhanvijay (45) could not be ascertained immediately. Dilip was found murdered with his head smashed by a heavy stone in Khamla area.

The body of Dilip Dhanvijay was found lying at railway property near Vidya Vikas Public School. The body was first spotted by some residents who subsequently alerted police. A team of cops reached the spot and started investigation. Police have sent the body to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for autopsy.

It is learnt that the murder could be fallout of a tiff between the deceased and his friends. Police have started interrogating Dhanvijay’s friends for a clue.

The deceased was originally a native of Bhivapur in Nagpur district.
