Nagpur: Discontent is reportedly growing among officers and employees of the Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT) over delays in promotions and postings. Despite promotions being granted in some cases, employees have allegedly not been assigned their new posts, while several promotion proposals remain pending. Alleged irregularities in the distribution of additional responsibilities have also raised questions about the administration’s functioning.
Concerns have been raised over administrative decisions taken during the tenure of NIT Chairman Sanjay Meena, particularly regarding the implementation of promotions and the allocation of higher responsibilities.
Employees promoted to the post of Junior Engineer in November 2025 have allegedly not yet been allowed to join their promoted positions. They continue to work as Civil Engineering Assistants, despite receiving promotions. Similarly, officers promoted to the post of Executive Engineer in March 2026 are reportedly still serving in the Assistant Engineer Grade-I category due to pending postings.
The promotion process for Assistant Engineer Grade-I posts has also been delayed. A meeting of the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) was held in March 2026 to consider promotions, but the minutes of the meeting have reportedly not yet been approved. As a result, the corresponding promotion orders could not be issued, according to the complaints.
Employees from other administrative cadres who have received promotions are also reportedly awaiting postings, adding to the dissatisfaction within the organisation.
Meanwhile, allegations have been raised that junior officials are being assigned additional charge of higher posts while senior officers and employees on the seniority list are being overlooked. Employees claim that such decisions could adversely affect the career prospects of those eligible for promotion and raise concerns about adherence to established seniority norms and administrative rules.
The affected employees have demanded that pending postings be completed without further delay, the DPC minutes be approved and promotion orders issued to eligible candidates. They have also called for strict adherence to seniority and applicable rules while assigning additional responsibilities.
The employees have further sought an explanation for the prolonged delays and demanded that responsibility be fixed for the pending decisions.
An official response from the Nagpur Improvement Trust administration on these allegations was not available at the time of publication. Further action in the matter is awaited.
