Preity Zinta, a bold and bindaas actress who made her debut in the movie ‘Dil Se’ with SRK over 2 decades ago and went on to become a successful leading lady acting in Yash Chopra’s ‘Veer Zara’ Karan Johar’s ‘Kabhi Alvida na kehna’ and Farhan Akhtar’s ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ has had a stormy personal life off screen which kept her in the news even after she stopped signing Bollywood films for a while. She was in a relationship with Ness Wadia and together they purchased Indian Premier League team Kings XI Punjab in 2008. But the two made headlines in May last year, when she filed charges against former boyfriend for molestation, threats and public abuse. According to a letter she wrote to the Mumbai Commisioner of Police, Wadia, who she had been dating openly since early 2005, would lock her up in rooms and had thrown burning cigarettes at her face.
The fall-out of this nearly-decade-old relationship was fairly significant, as Zinta and Wadia continue to be co-owners of The couple had already broken up in 2009, after Wadia reportedly slapped Zinta at a party, but continued to remain friends and maintain a professional relationship.
Preity has spoken to Mumbai Mirror recently , where the actress has said that she has finally achieved closure. When asked about her frequent trips to Los Angeles in the recent past, Zinta admitted that she was “in a relationship with someone nice” and was enjoying having time for herself.
Asked about whether it gets uncomfortable continuing to work with Wadia after all that has transpired, she was quoted as saying, “I know when to move on.” She did not make it clear whether Wadia apologised to her for his past behaviour or whether the two had reached an out-of-court settlement.
Zinta said that she was happy to be in a “happy space with a happy guy”. We are happy for her and wish her the best.
