They blazed the screen with their reel life and real life chemistry: Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor in ‘Jab we Met’ and Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor in ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’ and then inexplicably split up when the whole world was in love with them. Kareena Kapoor moved on to marry the much married and much older Saif Ali Khan and Ranbir moved in with ( again an older ?) Katrina Kaif.

Despite their bitter split up and Deepika subsequently mocking at Ranbir’s sex appeal and his penchant for anything in petticoats very publicly on ‘Coffee with Karan’  the two paired again, with resounding success in ‘Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani’. In fact the film sold on the strength of the line ” I do not want to fall in love with you – again” that Deepika says to Ranbir. Well, the couple are going to fall in love the third time, on screen! in ‘Tamasha’ set to release next year.

Kareena and Shahid, will reunite after seven long years in a movie Udta Panjab. But they will not be romantically paired against each other. Kareena will be with Diljit Dosanjh, a Punjabi heart throb and Alia Bhatt with Sahid. But what’s even more special about the flick is that it’s the first Bollywood movie to address the huge drug abuse problem in Punjab. The movie is actually a thriller and will include the drug mafia angle as well. For the uninitiated, Punjab has been dealing with a drug epidemic as more and more youngsters are being prone to drug abuse. It’ll definitely be interesting to see such a diverse cast – Kareena Kapoor Khan, Diljit Dosanjh, Alia Bhatt and Shahid Kapoor, in a movie on such a different subject. Alia Bhatt, took to Twitter to share her excitement on being a part of the movie.

Apart from these high profile love birds other very successful Bollywood couples are coming together again.

News of Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol teaming up  for Rohit Shetty’s Dilwale has excited fans of the actors who have delivered several hits together.
Ajay Devgn and Tabu will team up for Nishikant Kamat’s Drishyam, while Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor Khan will be spotted together in Gabbar Is Back.

Kareena is also working on Bajrangi Bhaijaan with Salman Khan.

Experts feel that such casting gives films a good chance at the box office. “When a hit pair comes together, it excites their fans. And from the trade point of view, when names like Shah Rukh and Kajol, or Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone, join hands for a film, it straightaway has an impact on the collections. It’s always good news for a filmmaker,” says trade analyst Amod Mehra. Ranbir and Deepika, will be seen together in Imtiaz Ali’s Tamasha.
