Nagpur: Visvesvaraya National Institute of technology (VNIT) launched ‘Pratham Diksha Course’ in its campus on Friday. This is a certificate course in Sanskrit. Classes will be held twice a week from 6 pm-7 pm in Electrical Engineering Department. Course fee is Rs. 350/- including cost of books and exam fee.

It may be mentioned that Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan (Deemed University) under MHRD has approved VNIT as centre to conduct non-formal course in basics of Sanskrit language for students and teachers since last year. This year, the course has been made open for all.

Their motive is to bring Sanskrit to main stream education. Though, the total scenario has changed in favour of Sanskrit as the language is being taught right from class first, the city now has opportunity to learn more about the language and regional cultures.

Promod M Padole, Director of VNIT, Kalyani Kale, course instructor for VNIT, Shrinivasa Varakhedi, Vice chancellor of Kavi Kulguru Kalidas Sanskrit University, Mohan K Kedekar were the guest of honour.
