Nagpur: It’s been almost a month since the city’s Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) conducted a raid on the Dighori based kitchen of the Mid Day Meal Scheme run by the Akshaya Patra Foundation and issued improvement letter. However, it appears the organization has snubbed the directive as it has yet to submit any sort of compliance letter.

On January 8, acting on complaints over poor quality of food in the Mid Day Meal Scheme run by the Akshaya Patra Foundation, officials of FDA conducted a raid on the kitchen of the foundation and collected samples of khichdi, Suji Halwa and oil along with some raw materials which were put under scanner in Government Laboratory.

“As FDA found some irregularities during the raid, we had issued the improvement letter to the Akshaya Patra Foundation and sought the compliance letter from them,” FDA Assistant Commissioner Milind Deshpande told Nagpur Today on Monday.

However, it’s been near about a week since we have not heard anything from the organization, Deshpande said.
