One Mrunank Manoj Uke, 17, a resident of, Indora, Bhandar Mohalla, Jaripatka, Nagpur accompanied by his parents lodged a complaint on May 26 that, Sumeet Thakur and some associates accompanying him on May 25 at 17 hours abducted him and his friend Rushi Mishra, a resident of, Jaripatka Nagpur when they were near Tuli International hotel, Sadar. It is further alleged that they were taken to a deserted place in front of Rajwada Palace, Mahal Nagpur.
It was reported that all this was done to call their friend Sachin Gupta, a resident of, Gaddigodam, with whom Thakur and his associates had some enmity. When Gupta, his friend Akhilesh Gondane and Guruvirsingh Bawra reached Rajwada Palace they were beaten up with iron rods and belts. Their money and Tab was also snatched.
Crime branch personnel have nabbed notorious criminal, Sumeet Rajkumar Thakur, a resident of, Hazari Pahad and his associates Sheikh Shahwaz alias Pappu Sheikh Mubaraq, a resident of, Ganjipeth, Nagpur.
There are many offences registered against Sumeet Thakur, who is notorious for keeping firearms illegally, abduction, extortion etc.
Had the police not done timely intervention it could have led to many untoward incidents in the episode.
The action was carried out under the guidance of police commissioner, K K Pathak, assistant police commissioner, Sanjay Saxena, deputy commissioner of police, Sunil Kolhe by senior police inspector, Madhav Giri, Avinash Shilimkar, police sub-inspector, Atulkar, Abdul Wahab, Ravi Rathod, Vijendra Yadav, Shekhar Kabhe, Kishor Sontakke, Milind Mun and Suryakant Chambhare.
