Nagpur: Initiating a stern action against a ‘Plumber’ involved in damaging 4 inch Dia main water pipeline and illegally providing illegal connection to a person staying opposite Shiva Residency in Godhani Road area, NMC-OCW lodged a police complaint against the plumber at Mankapur Police Station here on Monday.
It was learnt that a plumber identified as Govind tried to illegally connect few house service connections on 4 inch main supply line and in that bid damaged the pipeline at Godhni Road area under jurisdiction of NMC-OCW’s Mangalwari zone water supply dept.
On a complaint from some vigilant citizens, a team of NMC & OCW headed by Mangalwari Zone Head Madhusudan Tembhurnikar visited site on Monday, Dec 18, 2017, and caught red-handed the plumber and other people who were engaged in plugging illegal connections on main supply line. On Monday afternoon an official police complaint (FIR) was lodged at Mankapur Police Station by Mangalwari Zone Head Madhusudan Tembhurnikar & OCW Security Head Prakash Mahajan against the Plumber “Govind” person who tried to damage the main supply line under relevant sections of IPC and Damages To Public Property Act.
It must be mentioned here earlier too, FIR under relevant section 379 of IPC ( Water Theft), Section 336 (Danger to Public Life) and Section 3 & 7 (Damages to Public Property Act) of IPC, especially, those who are planning to fetch water without legal water connection or people who are deliberately fetching water supply by damaging main supply lines, feeder mains etc.
It must be mentioned here, having an authorized/registered water connection is a matter of pride for every citizen. NMC and OCW officials have requested the citizens of Nagpur to co-operate and get their connections regularized.
NMC –OCW have jointly appealed people not to involve themselves in such activities and also appealed vigilant citizens that if they found any such illegal connections activities going on nearby their localities they can inform to OCW Toll free number: 1800 266 9899 or OCW CGRC (Whats App) at 7028903636 .
