A Mad Rush at one of City Petrol Pump
Nagpur News: With massive protest against the newly imposed Local Body Tax in Nagpur escalating historical heights, the petrol pump owners association has also joined the anti-LBT bandwagon in the city. The petrol pump dealers in the city have decided to remain closed on Sunday and also stop purchasing petrol and diesel from Monday onwards, fuelling fresh set of problems for the people. As the news spread, the people madly queued up at the pumps across the city to secure their refills. Huge rush remained cluttering the petrol pumps till late Saturday evening in order to ensure hassle free drive on Sunday.
Dipen Agrawal, president, Nag Vidarbha Chamber of Commerce, which is leading the agitation of traders against imposition of LBT in the city, informed that panic comes quite natural as there are chances of pumps running dry in the coming days.
He said all the petrol pumps would remained closed on Sunday and from Monday, the dealers would not lift their quota. Hence the pumps are likely remain dry as the available stock would soon be consumed across all the fuel pumps.
Agrawal said as per the Supreme Court’s ruling, petrol pumps should not remain closed for indefinite period of time as fuel falls under essential commodities. But the dealers are free to decide upon picking up their share stock. Hence the fuel pumps may remain open but without stock, he added.
