Nagpur: A few days back the State government had sanctioned Rs 100 for the english medium school under the RTE (Right to Education) but of this only Rs 70 crores have reached the administration till now. The schools giving admission under RTE have to get Rs 650 crores. These Rs 100 crore are for the 20,000 english medium schools in the State. The pending amount with govt of the schools in Nagpur district itself is more than Rs 45 crores. Under the RTE just two schools have done their registration where as in Nagpur district itself there are 621 schools who give admission under the RTE. But as the schools have not got pendiong amount under the RTE so they have decided not to give admission under RTE till they get the pending funds. Now the poor parents cannot dream of sending their school to good schools. A few days back the Zilla Parishad Education Officer had distributed 44 lakhs to 612 schools. But this amount is very less compared to the amount pending with government.
The members of MESTA (Maharashtra English Medium School Teachers Association ) a number of times met the Education Officer and Education Minister. But the Directors of the schools have just got assurances. From a few months the Directors of schools had been saying the students would not be admitted under the RTE in 2018. Despite this the Education Ministry of the State Government did take this threat seriously. Due to this just to pacify the Directors the state sanctioned Rs 100 out of the Rs 650 crores. Out of this just Rs 70 crores have been received by the administration. And from this the Nagpur district will get 2 to 3 crores.
Giving the information MESTA President Sanjay Patil said, Rs 100 crores have been sanctioned whereas Nagpur itself has to get Rs 45 crores which is pending. From this one can imagine how much the Mumbai and Pune schools’ amount must be pending. In Nagpur district there are 621 school. Even if the Education Officer gets some money fights will erupt among the Directors. All Directors are going to demand funds and there is every possibility that the funds will not be distrubted because of this. The pending amount of every school is Rs 40 lakhs to Rs 50 lakhs. The expenditure after each child under RTE is nearly Rs 30 thousand while govt has been giving just 17,000 and that too are not received on time. Patil said no school will do registration of children under RTE. If the education officer takes action then they would close schools and protest, Patil informed that even the social organisation are threatening them for admission of students.
