Padyatra from Sewagram demands govt aid for schools

NAGPUR: The members of Maharashtra State Non-aided Schools Action Committee travelled all the way from Sewagram on foot and reached Nagpur on Wednesday to stage a demonstration at Samvidhan Square to press for various demands.

The agitating members had started from Sewagram on July 7 and reached Nagpur on Wednesday to stage the demonstration during the ongoing monsoon session of the State Assembly.

The agitators demanded that all schools be declared as government-aided schools. Similarly, the schools, which were getting 20% aid, shall be provided 100% aid. Schools in Tribal Development Areas also be provided 100% aid, and additional teachers in around 20% of schools be provided job security, they demanded.
