NUWJ: Shirish Borkar and Brahmashankar Tripathi elected as President and General Secretary

NAGPUR: Shirish Borkar and Brahmashankar Tripathi have been elected unopposed as President and General Secretary respectively of Nagpur Union of working Journalists (NUWJ) for the year 2018-2020.

Borkar, who is Special Correspondent of The Hitavada, is also the General Secretary of Tilak Patrakar Bhavan Trust and Treasurer of Nagpur Press Club. Borkar had already served NUWJ as President for five terms. He was also the General Secretary of NUWJ for three terms. Borkar is also the Secretary (Nagpur) of Maharashtra Union of Working Journalists.

Tripathi, who is Special Correspondent of Lokmat Times, had also worked as President and General Secretary of NUWJ for two terms. He is also the General Secretary of Nagpur Press Club.

Other office bearers elected unopposed included Vice-Presidents Anupam Soni (The Hitavada) and Parag Joshi (Tarun Bharat), Treasurer Rahul Awasare (Lokmat), Organising Secretary Varsha Bashu, Joint Secretaries Suresh Kanojiya (Lokmat Samachar) and Dinesh Tekade (Nav Bharat), Executive Committee members Mahesh Updeo (Saamna), Anant Mooley (Tarun Bharat), Hitesh Limbachiya, Rajendra Diwe, Paritosh Pramanik (all from The Hitavada), Rajendra Uttalwar (Deshonnati), Sunil Soni, Basantkumar Tiwari (both Lokmat samachar) and Varsha Tupkar (Madne) (Lokmat).

Veteran journalist Ganesh Shirole was the Election Officer. He was assisted by Bholasingh Rathod.
