Notorious Burglar and Vehicle Thief Held, 8 Cases Solved

Nagpur: Yashodhara Nagar police have arrested a 20-year-old habitual offender allegedly involved in multiple burglary and vehicle theft cases. The accused, identified as Piyush alias ‘Gadha’ Deepak Nimje, allegedly confessed to his involvement in eight offences, including three burglaries and five vehicle thefts. Police recovered stolen property worth around ₹3.47 lakh based on his information.

According to police, the Yashodhara Nagar police investigation team was patrolling the area on September 3 when they received confidential information that Piyush Nimje was involved in several burglary and vehicle theft incidents.

Acting on the tip-off, police laid a trap near the Panchawati Nagar ground and detained the accused. He initially attempted to mislead the police, but during intensive questioning, he allegedly revealed details of several offences.

During interrogation, Nimje reportedly admitted to carrying out burglaries in Kundannalal Gupta Nagar and Kanji House areas. He also allegedly confessed to stealing from a paan stall near the Sheetlamata Temple in Dhammadip Nagar. Police have also obtained CCTV footage related to some of the incidents.

The accused allegedly told police that he had stolen a Hero Xtreme from Dhammadip Nagar, a Pulsar from Kundannalal Gupta Nagar, a Splendor from Navin Nehrunagar in Hudkeshwar, a Honda Activa from Pardi and a Royal Enfield Bullet from Shantinagar.

Following his disclosure, police recovered the stolen property that had allegedly been concealed behind a brick kiln near Itabhatti Square. The recovered items include five two-wheelers and other stolen articles, with the total value estimated at around ₹3.47 lakh.

Police said Nimje is a habitual offender and has approximately 20 previous cases registered against him. Two of his alleged accomplices are still absconding.

Yashodhara Nagar police have launched a search for the two absconding suspects. Police are also investigating whether Nimje’s interrogation will lead to the detection of more burglary and vehicle theft cases.
