Nagpur: Even as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has sounded heavy rainfall alerts for several districts across Maharashtra, Nagpur is expected to remain largely free from any threat of extreme rainfall over the next few days.
According to the weather forecast issued by the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Mumbai, for the period July 6 to July 10, Nagpur district has been placed under a Green Alert on July 6, indicating no significant weather-related threat.
The IMD has forecast light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in parts of the district on Sunday. However, no Yellow, Orange or Red Alert has been issued for Nagpur for the period between July 7 and July 10, suggesting that widespread heavy rainfall is unlikely.
Weather officials said residents can expect intermittent rain showers, cloudy skies and occasional thunderstorms during the coming days, but there is no immediate possibility of extremely heavy rainfall or flood-like conditions.
Meanwhile, the IMD has issued warnings of heavy rainfall for several districts, including Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Palghar, Ratnagiri, and parts of the Western Ghats, where intense showers are likely over the next few days.
Authorities have advised residents in these rain-hit districts to remain alert and take necessary precautions in view of the forecast, while Nagpur is expected to experience comparatively milder monsoon conditions.
