The Education Department of Nagpur Municipal Corporation is organizing two meetings of parents of mentally challenged students and physically handicapped students respectively requiring special needs. The first meeting will be held March 10 & 11 and the other meeting will be held on March 12. The meetings of parents of special children, being organized on the directives of Municipal Commissioner Shravan Hardikar and Deputy Commissioner Rizwan Siddique, have been aimed at facilitating education for these children under Right to Free and Compulsory Education Act 2009. According to the Act, children up to the age of 18 years are given opportunities of free and compulsory education. NMC is also implementing the Act. However, due to unawareness of the Act, many parents face difficulties in providing proper education to the special children. Keeping in mind the disturbing aspect, the NMC is organizing the two meetings for parents of special children.

In the meetings, parents will be informed about the facilities of education for special children, types of handicaps, first aid and remedies, therapy service, various Government schemes and facilities, financial assistance etc.
