Nagpur: Pushing it drive against defaulters of Property Tax, Nagpur Municipal Corporation on Saturdayrecovered Rs 70 lakh through seizure and Warrant Action in various zones. The recovered amount includes Rs 11 lakh from Bajaj Nagar Branch of ICICI Bank in Laxmi Nagar Zone.
In Dharampeth Zone, pending Property Tax dues of Rs 21 lakh were recovered from the evaders. Similarly, in Hanuman Nagar Zone, properties of five owners were seized and an amount of Rs 83,000 was recovered from them while in Dhantoli Zone two properties were seized and Rs 8 lakh were recovered from the non-payers of tax.
In Nehru Nagar Zone, pending Property Tax dues of Rs 30 lakh recovered by seizing two properties. A plot of Devendra Damodar Ahirkar near Mhalgi Nagar Water Tank was seized for non-payment of tax since the year 2007. In Gandhi Nagar Zone, Rs 1,96,786 were recovered by seizing three properties.
A total of 14 property holders in Satranjipura Zone faced the NMC crack down. Lakhs of rupees were recovered by seizing their properties. In Lakadganj Zone, nine properties were seized and an amount of Rs 5,26,000 was recovered. Similarly, nine property owners in Ashi Nagar Zone had to shell out lakhs of rupees for not paying the tax after their properties were seized.
