There is a huge backlog of renaming cases in all parts of the city.
In order to ensure hassle free proceedings in name change cases, it is mandatory for applicants to submit a copy of the sale deed, up-to-date tax receipts and records, death certificate in instances of transfer of property possession due to inheritance, affidavit regarding inheritance and other related documents.

NMC has planned a blitzkrieg campaign to resolve such pending cases. According to the situation concerned, the documents and cases will be classified in various categories. Authorities shall acquaint themselves minutely with the technical constraints in each case. If an applicant does not have the required documents, they will be required to submit a ‘No Objection Certificate’ issued by the concerned authorities. This would ensure that there would be no further problems. The property tax department’s working methodology has become hi-tech nowadays. The department has developed a special application. Through this app, one can accurately gauge how many cases of name change are pending in which NMC zone.

Details like how many name change cases are pending with which official, from how long it has been pending will emerge through the use of this application. Deputy Commissioner Milind Meshram is issuing show-cause notices to officials found wanting, even if concerned assistant commissioners do not take a decision on the matter immediately.

However, Milind Meshram has commenced a zone wise campaign to resolve pending name change cases. Now the property owners need not visit the concerned NMC offices. Deputy Commissioner Meshram said that if property holders merely enter the index number and other related details, the certificate of transfer will be available at their home itself.
