Nagpur News: The battlefield is being prepared and the war would be waged on September 16. The development concerns to the bus service on the routes which are not run by the Star Bus in order to make the bus services citizen-friendly. Accordingly, an EOI was invited and the NMC’s Nagpur Mahanagar Parivahan Limited’s (NMPL) meeting sanctioned the EOI. Now, the NMC’s General Body Meeting, to be held on September 16, will move a proposal in this regard and is likely to pass it but not before the temperature rising to boiling point. The alternate routes would be handed over to another company to run their buses the allotted routes.

At present, the NMC felt the need run more buses on the routes in which the Star Buses are not being run. The Vansh Nimay Company, under VNIL, is running the Star Buses. The MSRTC has handed over the permit to Vansh Nimay for running Star Buses on 40 main routes and 102 sub-routes. The 30 main routes have continuous flow of passengers while 67 sub-routes out of 102 have been non-functional or closed. Out of the 35 remaining sub-routes, 22 have been made direct routes due to lack of required passengers.

According to agreement between NMC and VNIL, if the bus trips were to be run apart from the agreed routes, permission of NMC is mandatory. The State Government has permitted the NMC to run buses within its limits and 200 kilometers in peripheral limits. Therefore, there is no need for permit on the NMC-run city bus running routes or starting new routes. Now, the NMC General Body Meeting will propose alternative to run the buses on those routes for which permit is available but buses are not running.

The NMC’s NMPL had cleared M/s Saitaj Krupa Company as an alternative to run its buses and the citizens would soon witness running M/s Saitaj Krupa buses on the roads apart from Star Buses. But the alternative would be first discussed in the General Body Meeting of the NMC which would see sparks flying with Ruling Party and Opposition Party wrestling over the issue. The Opposition has geared up to corner the Ruling Party over the issues including very poor service by Star Bus Company Vansh Nimay, cancellation of agreement with it first, enquiry into scrap-like condition of Star Buses, compensation from the company in this regard and resolving of royalty logjam. Then only the decision to run an alternative company, would be the demands of the Opposition.

After considering the ground realities, the battlefield is ready and the war would be witnessed onSeptember 16.
