The issues raised included cementing and asphalting of internal roads, laying of paver blocks on footpaths, and repair of a damaged water pipeline near Viveka Hospital which has caused water stagnation. The residents also requested that the reservation on the society’s playground—currently earmarked for a primary school and library—be cancelled and retained solely for sports activities. They further sought development of civic amenities on the playground.

Dr. Chaudhari personally inspected all the sites and directed concerned officials to resolve the issues promptly. He informed the delegation that the area is reserved for a library and primary school in the Development Plan, but if the society passes a formal resolution to retain it as a playground, the proposal can be submitted to the NMC for consideration and further action.

The commissioner was welcomed with a floral bouquet by the members of the Nelco Society Citizens Committee. Former Corporator Pramod Tabhane, Society Secretary Manohar Pande, Vijay Naik, P. M. Brahmankar, Keshav Kose, Dewalal Korde, and Mohan Pande were present along with NMC officials Abhijit Netam, Sheetal Rangari, Mahendra Suradkar, Dinkar Gajbhiye, and Akash Rangari.

A Moment of Fun with Cricket

During the inspection, a cricket match for children under 14 was in progress on the society’s playground. On request from the residents, Dr. Abhijit Chaudhari took up the bat and hit a shot off a delivery bowled by Pramod Tabhane, delighting the young players and residents alike.
