The new team of Association of Medical Faculties (AMF) was installed on Sunday (June 29) at a ceremony held in Hotel Tuli International. Dr Gopal Arora was installed as President. Others who took charge include Dr Vinod Sukhija as Secretary, Dr Gauri Arora as President-elect, Dr T S Uberoi and Dr Yunus Shah as Vice Presidents, Dr Ajay Deshpande and Dr Anne Wilkison as Joint Secretaries and Dr Grishma Dhingra as Treasurer.
Executive members are Dr Murtaza Akhter, Dr Rajesh Atal, Dr Shyam Babhulkar, Dr Rajesh Baghe, Dr Sadashiv Bhole, Dr G S Bhutani, Dr Naresh Gurbani, Dr Rizwan Haq, Dr Anil Jawahirani, Dr Nayeem Khan, Dr Ashish Kubde, Dr J S Mehta, Dr Rajeev Mohta, Dr Shantanu Mukherjee, Dr Namrata Rathod, Dr Anil Raut, Dr Vinky Rughwani and Dr N P Tolani.
Prominent Bollywood actor and theater personality Dr Ashok Khurana was the Chief Guest of the function. In his address, Dr Ashok Khurana appreciated the medical fraternity for their contribution in effectively imaging the health of scores of patients of the city and upholding the Hippocratic Oath. He also appreciated the fact that AMF and the medical organization also organized cultural events to promote the talents of doctors.
The Guest of Honor for the function was Dr Kishor Taori who requested all the present to reflect on the good charitable work. He emphasized that with the current changing scenario it remains all the more important for doctors to maintain and protect the integrity of the profession.
On the occasion, AMF felicitated the senior-most journalist Vijay Phanshikar, eminent ophthalmologist Dr S C Karandikar, senior physician Dr Firoze Bharda for outstanding contribution in their respective fields.
Eminent ophthalmologist Dr Prashant Agnihotri delivered the late Dr Indumati Tapnikar Oration. He spoke on “Latest Technologies in Cataract Management” after Harish Warbhe dwelt on “Blood Safety” and lastly Dr Pramod Gandhi spoke on “insulin Initiation in Diabetes Mellitus. Dr Anan Gade, Dr Jayant Kole, Dr Shankar Khobragade, Dr Iqbal Khan, Dr Sanjay Jain and Dr N P Tolani chaired the session.
Dr Bianca N Arya was Master of Ceremony while Dr Viond Sukhija gave vote of thanks. Dr Gopal Arora President, Dr Vinod Sukhija Secretary, Dr Gauri Arora President-elect, Dr T S Uberoi and Dr Yunus Shah Vice Presidents, Dr Ajay Deshpande and Dr Anne Wilkison Joint Secretaries and Dr Grishma Dhingra Treasurer worked hand for success of the programme. More than 200 doctors attended the ceremony.
