Nagpur: The new team of office bearers of Association of Surgeons, Nagpur (ASN), headed by President Dr. Jagadish Hedawoo, Associate Professor and presently working as Medical Superintendent, Government Medical College and Hospital, Nagpur, was installed on Sunday, April 3, 2016 at 9.00 am in a glittering ceremony held at Chitnavis Centre, Civil Lines, here. Dr. Divish Saxena, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Surgery, NKPSIMS took charge as Honorary Secretary.
Dr. Vikram Kate, Professor of Surgery at JIPMER, Pondicherry an alumnus of GMC Nagpur graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Dr. Vikram Kate has extensive research experience in the field of gastroenterology and he has done PhD in gastroenterology. He is having many FRCS degree awarded by reputed surgical bodies.
Dr. Wasudeo Ninawe, Professor and Head, Dept. of Surgery, Government Medical College, and Chandrapur were the guest of honor for this function. He has an extensive experience in plastic surgery.

Dr. Rajesh Singhvi as President Elect, Dr. Devendra Sortey as Vice- President, Dr. Prashant Bhowate as Treasurer, Dr. Gopal Gurjar as Joint Secretary, Dr. Ghanshyam Chude, Dr. Praveen Vairagade and Dr. Unmed Chandak as Editors, Upsurge and Dr. Abhijeet Deshmukh, Dr. Asmita Dhurve, Dr. Bhupesh Tirpude, Dr. Dinesh Sarda, Dr. Hemant Bhanarkar, Dr. Laxmikant Ladukar, Dr. Mahendra Chauhan, Dr. Maheshkumar Soni, Dr. Narendra Mohta, Dr. Ritesh Bodade, Dr. Sushil Lohiya, Dr. TRV Wilkinson, Dr. Vishal Nandagawali and Dr. Yunus Shah as executive committee members. Dr. Mrunal Borkar and Dr. Suresh Chaware were installed as Co-Opted members.
The installation was followed by “Silver Jubilee MASICON Oration” on the topic “Translational Gastrointestinal Research- Bench to Bedside and Beyond: A Journey of two Decades” was delivered by Dr. Vikram Kate and a CME with two guest lectures by Prof. Kate and Prof. Wasudeo Ninawe. The entire CME had been accredited and awarded with two Credit points by Maharashtra Medical Council.
Outgoing President Dr. Prashant Rahate made opening welcome speech and announced Nagpur chapter being adjudged best chapter at Kolhapur MASICON. Outgoing Honorary Secretary Dr. Nirmal Patle presented annual report. The dignitaries lighted the traditional lamp to mark the occasion. An issue of “UPSURGE” was released on the occasion. All past presidents of ASN, Batch mates of Dr. Jagdish Hedawoo and IMA members felicitated him. Dr. A. M. Quraishi, President, Maharashtrra state chapter of ASI and Dr. Dilip Gode, Vice Chancellor of DMIMS, (Deemed University) Sawangi & member of Governing Council of National ASI, were felicitated at the hands of dignitaries for their achievements with shawl, Shreefal & mementos.
The past executive members were also felicitated at hands of them. In his acceptance speech Dr. Jagdish Hedawoo highlighted the clinical and social activities that will be under taken in the coming year and try to keep the high traditions of ASN and sought cooperation of every one.
Dr. Rashmi Mundra and Dr. Gopal Gurjar were the master of ceremony. The ASN members attended the programme in large numbers. Dr. Divish Saxena, Hon. Secretary, proposed the vote of thanks.
