Nagpur: The new building of RTO (Rural) under construction near Lal Godam, Patankar Chowk, Kamptee Road is going at snail’s speed, and the current office is still continuing on a rented building over past 10 years. Its is said to be the result of fund crunch, though officials claim that the work would be completed by the end of the year.
It may be mentioned that the construction cost of new building would need Rs 13.50 crore while only Rs 5 crore have been released. The present office has been continuing in Lal Godam, belong to food supply department, since year 2006 on rent at the rate of Rs 26,000 per month. According to knowledgeable sources, the government could have made its own building 10 years ago rather than paying Rs 26,000 per month as rent.

RTO (Rural) Sharad Jichkar however said, the building would be ready by the end of the year, and it would have ‘test track’ as well.
