Nagpur News: With the date of the Mumbai blasts convict Yakub Memon’s hanging approaching fast and the untimely relinquishing of charge by deputy inspector general of police (DIG) (Prisons) Swati Sathe, the DIG of Aurangabad division Rajendra Dhamne has been given the charge of DIG (Prisons), Nagpur, with immediate effect. Dhamne met jail officials on Friday and took stock of the situation.

Later in the day, additional director general of police Meera Borwankar reached Nagpur Central Jail and inquired from Dhamne about the state of affairs inside the jail.

It may be noted here that Sathe, who was holding the charge of DIG (Prisons), had handed over the charge to jail superintendent Yogesh Desai on Wednesday itself after coming back from leave.
