One of the prominent festivals of Maharashtra, Gudi Padwa, is celebrated on the first day of the Hindu month of Chaitra. Dressed in traditional attires, hundreds of residents in Nagpur took out a colourful procession.

The Gudi is viewed as a symbol of victory and a charm to ward off evil forces. The festival is celebrated as ‘Ugadi’ in southern states of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.
