Nagpur: Mankapur police have registered a case against a 26-year-old woman who allegedly demanded ₹2.5 lakh from the wife of a medical store owner and threatened to implicate her husband in false criminal cases.
According to the medical store owner’s complaint, he met the woman at a gym on Godhani Road, after which she began visiting his medical store regularly. The man alleged that she once asked him for sleeping pills, which he refused to provide. She later allegedly demanded ₹50,000, but he again declined.
Police said the woman subsequently contacted the store owner’s wife and allegedly threatened to implicate her husband in cases related to rape, molestation and cheating unless ₹2.5 lakh was paid. She also allegedly threatened to shut down his business and have him assaulted by her brother.
However, the matter has a second side. The woman has filed a counter-complaint against the 37-year-old medical store owner, alleging that he made an obscene offer to her.
Police have registered cases based on both complaints and are investigating the allegations. No arrest has been made so far.
