Nagpur: A routine visit to a pet clinic in Nagpur turned violent after a young man allegedly assaulted a clinic assistant and threatened to kill the doctor when his pet cat refused to take prescribed medicine.
The incident occurred in the Pratap Nagar area. The injured assistant, Shubham Vinod Dandge (22), works at Precise Pet Clinic and Accessories on Vidya Vihar Road. Police said the accused, Pranay Jaiswal (25), had brought his Persian cat for treatment on February 17 and was unhappy when the animal would not swallow the medication.
The next day, the accused returned to the clinic and allegedly demanded that staff administer the medicine themselves. When Dandge failed to do so, the situation escalated. The accused allegedly abused and assaulted the assistant, leaving him injured and damaging the stethoscope he was wearing. He also allegedly issued death threats to the clinic’s doctor, prompting panic at the facility.
Other staff members intervened and prevented the situation from worsening. Based on the doctor’s complaint, police have registered a case under sections related to assault, abuse, and criminal intimidation. An investigation is currently underway.
The incident has raised concerns over growing aggression against medical and veterinary staff in Nagpur, even over routine treatment disputes.
