
Nagpur: Sakardara police have arrested a man with 20 grams of MD powder as part of an ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking in the city. The accused has been identified as Kunal Mhaiskar, a resident of Hinganghat.
Police are now investigating the source of the contraband and searching for the person who allegedly supplied the MD powder to the accused.
Suspect Runs After Seeing Police
According to police, a Sakardara police team was conducting late-night patrolling in the area when they noticed a man behaving suspiciously near the wall of Sakardara Lake Garden, behind the Dattatraya Nagar Fire Brigade office.
When the man allegedly noticed the police team approaching him, he suddenly started running. Police personnel chased him and managed to catch him a short distance away.
20 Grams of MD Recovered
The accused was searched in the presence of independent witnesses. During the search, police allegedly recovered 20 grams of MD powder from his possession.
Apart from the suspected MD powder, police also seized a mobile phone and cash. The total value of the seized property has been estimated at around ₹72,000.
According to police, the accused allegedly possessed the MD powder with the intention of making an illegal financial profit. Preliminary investigation has reportedly revealed that he had brought the MD powder to Nagpur from Hinganghat.
Case Registered Under NDPS Act
Sakardara police have registered a case against Kunal Mhaiskar under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and arrested him.
Police are now attempting to identify and locate the alleged supplier who provided the MD powder to the accused.
Further investigation into the drug supply network and the source of the contraband is underway
