
Nagpur: A potentially serious incident was averted in Nagpur after Ajni police reached the spot within just three minutes of receiving an emergency call on police control room number 112 and rescued a youth who was allegedly being attacked with a knife.
The incident took place in the Sant Kabir Nagar area under the Ajni police station limits. Police also managed to arrest the accused shortly after reaching the spot.
112 Call Brings Police to Spot in Three Minutes
According to police, the control room received information at around 11:15 pm that a man was allegedly being attacked with a knife in the Sant Kabir Nagar area on Sant Kabir Marg.
After receiving the alert, Ajni police beat marshals immediately rushed to the location and reached within approximately three minutes.
The police team found the complainant, identified as Mukul Dhapode, at the spot and ensured his safety. The officers then began searching for the accused.
Mobile Phone and Cash Allegedly Demanded
Mukul reportedly told police that Shahbaz Azim Khan, who lives in the same locality, allegedly demanded his mobile phone and cash while threatening him with a knife.
When Mukul resisted, the accused allegedly attacked him with the knife. Mukul managed to evade the attack, although the knife reportedly damaged the seat cover of his vehicle during the incident.
After managing to escape from the spot, Mukul immediately contacted the police and reported the incident.
Accused Arrested by Police
Following the complaint, the Ajni police beat marshals launched a search for the accused and subsequently arrested Shahbaz Azim Khan.
Police said preventive action had reportedly been taken against the accused in the past as well. He is also alleged to be addicted to drugs.
Ajni police are conducting further investigation into the incident.

The timely call to the 112 emergency number and the rapid response by Ajni police helped prevent the situation from escalating further. Police reaching the location within three minutes ensured the safety of the youth and led to the quick arrest of the accused.
