
Nagpur: A dispute over a car parked in the middle of the road turned violent at Ramnagar Chowk under the Ambazari police station limits, where three youths allegedly attacked a man with an iron rod after he asked them to move their vehicle.
The victim, identified as Rahul, sustained serious injuries to his head in the assault. Ambazari police have arrested two accused persons in connection with the incident, while a third accused is reportedly absconding.
According to the police, 26-year-old Shivani Kanoujiya, a resident of Gokulpeth, was returning home with her husband Rahul and their young child after visiting Telangkhedi Temple.
When the family reached Ramnagar Chowk, three youths were allegedly sitting in a car parked in the middle of the road. Rahul reportedly honked and asked them to move the vehicle to clear the way.
The request allegedly angered the three youths, who began abusing Rahul. The argument soon escalated, following which the accused allegedly took an iron rod from their car and struck Rahul on the head.
Rahul was seriously injured in the attack. The accused allegedly fled the spot after the assault. Police were informed about the incident and the injured man was taken to hospital for treatment.
Based on the complaint, Ambazari police arrested Prince Bhanu, a resident of Golibar Chowk, and Pushkar Sharma. Police said both accused were allegedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. Efforts are underway to trace and arrest the third accused.
The incident has also raised concerns among local residents about disturbances and traffic obstruction allegedly caused by intoxicated youths in and around Ramnagar Chowk. Residents have also raised allegations regarding illegal hookah parlours operating in the area and questioned whether adequate action is being taken.
Local residents have demanded strict action against anti-social elements and increased police patrolling in the Ramnagar Chowk area to prevent similar incidents.
