Nagpur: Scattered light rain and overcast skies brought some relief to Nagpur residents from the humid weather on Wednesday, with showers reported across several parts of the city from the afternoon through the evening.
Although the rainfall remained light, waterlogging was reported in some low-lying areas, briefly affecting traffic movement at several locations.
Yellow alert for Nagpur, more rain likely
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Yellow Alert for Nagpur and several parts of Vidarbha for September 2 and 3. An Orange Alert has been issued for Bhandara and Gondia districts during the same period.

According to the forecast, Nagpur is likely to receive more light showers on Thursday, with cloudy conditions expected to persist through the day.
Nagpur records 1 mm rainfall
Nagpur recorded around 1 mm of rainfall on Wednesday, while Bhandara and Gondia received 5 mm each. Brahmapuri recorded 0.6 mm.
The showers also brought down temperatures across the region. Nagpur’s maximum temperature fell by 1.6 degrees Celsius in 24 hours, settling at 29.4°C on Wednesday.
Gondia recorded Vidarbha’s lowest maximum temperature at 26.5°C. Amravati recorded 29°C, Bhandara 29°C, Buldhana 27°C, Washim 28.6°C and Yavatmal 29.4°C.
Akola, Brahmapuri, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli and Wardha recorded maximum temperatures above 30°C.
High humidity persists across Vidarbha
Despite the rain, humidity remained high across the region. Relative humidity levels in most parts of Vidarbha were recorded between 70% and 92% on Wednesday.
The combination of cloudy weather, high humidity and intermittent showers is expected to continue in Nagpur and parts of Vidarbha, with residents likely to experience another relatively cooler but humid day on Thursday.
