Focus on sensitive booths
Senior officials said heightened vigilance will be maintained at sensitive and hyper-sensitive polling booths. Extra forces will be stationed at strong rooms, polling stations, counting centres and key traffic intersections. Quick Response Teams (QRTs) and mobile patrolling units will remain on standby throughout the polling process.
“Our foremost objective is to ensure that citizens can cast their votes without any fear or hindrance. Adequate police presence has been ensured at every polling booth, and strict surveillance will be maintained to avert any untoward incident,” a senior official said.
The police have also issued a stern warning against violations of the Model Code of Conduct. “Any attempt to disturb law and order or influence voters will invite strict action. Prohibitory orders will be enforced and intensive patrolling will be carried out across the city,” another official added.
