Residents can register complaints by calling 9823300100, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Branch) Sandeep Pakhale said.
The initiative aims to enable citizens to report violations at any time, particularly during festivities when excessive firecracker use can lead to increased noise and air pollution.
According to DCP Pakhale, complaints received through the dedicated helpline will be forwarded to the respective police stations for necessary action.
Citizens can also dial 112 to alert the police about the bursting of firecrackers in prohibited areas.
High Court Restrictions on Firecrackers
The helpline initiative follows the Bombay High Court’s restrictions on bursting firecrackers on public streets, roads, lanes and footpaths during festivities.
The court has also prohibited the use of firecrackers in designated silence zones, including areas surrounding hospitals, schools, courts and government offices.
Police officials said complaints will be examined promptly and legal action will be initiated against those found violating the applicable restrictions.
