Nagpur: The Social Security Cell of Nagpur Police has busted an alleged prostitution racket operating under the guise of a lodging facility in the city’s Yashodhara Nagar area. During a raid at JS Lodging Restaurant on Bhilgaon-Kamptee Road, police rescued three women, including a minor, and detained the lodge operator. Police are now searching for the alleged broker who is accused of arranging women for customers.
According to police, the Social Security Cell had received specific information that the lodge was allegedly being used to run a prostitution racket. After verifying the inputs, the team planned a trap with the assistance of independent witnesses and a decoy customer.

During the operation, the decoy customer allegedly negotiated a deal for Rs 2,000 for sexual services. As soon as the woman entered the room, the police team raided the premises.
The raid resulted in the rescue of three women, including one minor. Preliminary investigation suggests that the women were allegedly lured with the promise of earning easy money and were arranged for customers through middlemen.
Police detained Shivshankar Patle, who was operating the lodge, while the alleged broker, identified as Babbu alias Kuljit Singh Rain, is absconding. Investigators said the broker allegedly arranged women for the lodge and facilitated the illegal operation.
Sources said the lodge had previously come under the scanner for similar allegations when it was being operated by a different owner. After Shivshankar Patle reportedly took the premises on rent, the lodge was allegedly once again used for prostitution activities.
Yashodhara Nagar Police have registered a case under the relevant provisions of law, including applicable sections of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, and have launched further investigation. Efforts are underway to trace and arrest the absconding accused, while the rescued women are being provided assistance in accordance with legal procedures.
