Nagpur MIDC Accident: Worker Dies After Conveyor Belt Mishap

Nagpur: A 30-year-old worker died in a tragic workplace accident at a company in Nagpur’s MIDC Police Station area on Monday morning after his hand got trapped in a conveyor belt.

The deceased has been identified as Rohit Ramdular Chaubey (30), a resident of Panchsheel Nagar in Isasani. The accident occurred at around 8:30 am at Niko Heavy Engineering Casting Limited, located at Plot No. 65/2.

According to preliminary information, Rohit was working near the furnace area, where a crane was being used to transport sand and material to an elevated section. During the work, his hand reportedly became caught in the conveyor belt.

The accident was so severe that his arm was severed from the shoulder, leaving him critically injured.

Following the incident, fellow workers stopped the crane and brought Rohit down. They also reportedly carried the severed arm with him while rushing him to Lata Mangeshkar Hospital in Digdoh.

Considering the seriousness of his condition, doctors referred him to Government Medical College and Hospital (Medical Hospital). However, upon reaching the hospital, doctors examined Rohit and declared him dead.

According to his colleagues, Rohit had earlier worked as a plumber’s assistant at another workplace. They said this was reportedly his first time working at such a height.

The accident has left the workplace and Rohit’s family in shock. He is survived by his wife and a four-month-old child.

MIDC Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal workplace accident.
