Anti-Narcotics Squad Cracks Down in Panchpaoli, Youth Arrested with 12.650g MD

As part of the ongoing drive, the team conducted an operation in the Buddhanagar area under Panchpaoli police station limits and arrested a 23-year-old man with 12.650 grams of MD powder.

Police also seized a mobile phone, electronic weighing scale and a moped from the accused. The total value of the seized material has been estimated at ₹93,450.

Police Lay Trap Based on Tip-Off

According to police, the Anti-Narcotics Squad was patrolling the Buddhanagar area between 12.20 am and 2.10 am on Sunday when it received specific information about the sale of narcotic substances in the area.

Acting on the information, the team kept watch near the house of Pritamsingh Thakur and waited for the suspected person to arrive.

After some time, a young man arrived on a Maestro moped. Noticing his suspicious movements, the police team intercepted and detained him.

He was identified as Anurag Ramtekekar (23), who, according to police, was residing as a tenant at a house belonging to Khobragade in Buddhanagar.

12.650 Grams of MD Recovered

During the search, police allegedly found 12 grams and 650 milligrams of MD powder packed in a zip-lock pouch in the accused’s possession.

The narcotic substance was seized and Anurag was subsequently arrested. The moped, mobile phone and electronic weighing scale were also taken into custody as part of the investigation.

Two More Suspects Named

During preliminary questioning, Anurag allegedly told police that he had obtained the MD powder from associates for the purpose of selling it.

Police have identified Javed Khan (30), a resident of Hasanbagh, and Chanda Thakur, a resident of Shantinagar, in connection with the case. Their alleged roles are being investigated and both are currently absconding.

Case Registered Under NDPS Act

Panchpaoli police have registered a case under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

Investigators are questioning the arrested accused to determine the source of the MD, its intended buyers and whether more people are involved in the drug supply network.

Police Probe Supply Network

Following the seizure, the Anti-Narcotics Squad is now working to trace the wider supply chain. Police are also searching for the two absconding suspects and investigating the source from which the MD was allegedly procured.

The operation was carried out under the guidance of DCP Deepak Agrawal and ACP Vaibhav Jadhav, by Inspector Bharat Kshirsagar and his team.
