Nagpur: The Students’ Quality Assurance Cell (SQAC) of L.A.D. & Smt. R.P. College for Women, Nagpur, organised the Student Induction Programme (SIP) 2026 on September 2 and 3 for first-year students. The two-day programme benefited around 200 students and was designed to help them make a smooth transition from school to college.
The programme provided students with an introduction to the college environment while familiarising them with academic departments, administrative procedures, career opportunities, co-curricular activities and institutional support systems.

The inaugural session was held at the college Conference Hall in the presence of Principal Dr. Pooja Pathak, Vice-Principal and SQAC Convenor Dr. Ruta Dharmadhikari, IQAC Coordinator Dr. Archana Masram and SQAC Co-Convenor Dr. Laila Bhairaiya. The ceremony began with the traditional lighting of the lamp and Saraswati Vandana.
Addressing the students, Dr. Ruta Dharmadhikari explained the purpose of the Student Induction Programme and highlighted the importance of active participation and developing a sense of belonging. Dr. Archana Masram spoke about holistic development, the learner-centric approach of NEP 2020, experiential learning and 21st-century skills.
Alumna Maneesha shared her personal journey of returning to education and pursuing an M.A. in English nearly two decades after completing her earlier studies. Principal Dr. Pooja Pathak encouraged students to embrace the values of knowledge and compassion while developing confidence, empathy and inner strength.
Students Explore College Legacy and Departments
The first day featured a documentary on the Women’s Education Society, presented by Dr. Sumit Sapre, Vice-Principal of the Seminary Hills Campus. The documentary highlighted the Society’s journey since 1932 and its contribution to women’s education, empowerment and nation-building.
A session titled “YIU – Young India Unchained” introduced students to the YIU Club and focused on human trafficking and the role of young people in prevention and awareness. Resource person Mrs. Shalaka Biniwale discussed trafficking, grooming, exploitation, victim vulnerabilities and the importance of responsible citizenship. Students were also introduced to digital safety resources including CEIR and Take It Down.
As part of the departmental activities, students visited different departments and interacted with faculty members. They participated in hands-on and creative activities such as Apiculture and Aquarium Setup, Pot Painting, Food Adulteration Analysis, Fizix Fantastic, Microbes in Nature, Slogan Writing, Map Pointing, Timelines in History, Block Painting and The Investment Quest, a stock market simulation game.
The first day concluded with an energetic Zumba session, providing students with an opportunity for fitness, recreation and interaction.
Career and Administrative Orientation on Day Two
The second day began with an orientation on Career Katta, conducted by resource person Dr. Shivani Balkundi. Students were briefed about career opportunities, courses, certifications, access procedures, payment details and various clubs.
An administrative orientation titled “Meet the Office of L.A.D. College” familiarised students with different sections of the institution. College officials provided information about accounts, admissions, examinations, hostel facilities, scholarships, bus passes, the cash counter, social media platforms and RTMNU-related schemes.
A Traffic Awareness and Road Safety session was also conducted in collaboration with NSS Unit 1. Dr. Arti Kelker and Mr. Ravindra Paranjpe highlighted the importance of road safety, discipline and compliance with traffic rules. An interactive quiz was organised to reinforce the lessons among students.
Students were subsequently introduced to the college’s Internal Committee and the POSH Act, 2016, with emphasis on safety, awareness and institutional support mechanisms.
ShravanSari Adds Cultural Touch
The second day also featured ShravanSari, comprising traditional games and recreational activities. The activities created an energetic atmosphere and encouraged interaction, teamwork and camaraderie among the new students while helping them connect with cultural traditions.
The Student Induction Programme 2026 concluded as a comprehensive introduction to college life, combining institutional orientation, career awareness, skill development, social responsibility, cultural engagement and recreation.
The organisers said the collective efforts of the SQAC, IQAC, faculty members, resource persons and student volunteers contributed to the successful conduct of the programme and provided first-year students with a meaningful beginning to their college journey.
