Nagpur: Panic spread in Nagpur’s Beltarodi area on Sunday morning after police received information about the alleged kidnapping of a young woman travelling in a red car. A video showing the woman screaming inside the moving vehicle quickly went viral on social media. However, a police investigation revealed that it was not a kidnapping but a dispute among friends.
According to police, the woman, a resident of Manish Nagar, had an argument with her friend Rohit while travelling in the car along with another female friend. As the argument escalated, she wanted to get out of the vehicle, but the driver continued driving, causing her to shout for help.

Hearing her screams, passers by suspected a kidnapping and alerted the police. The video of the incident soon spread across social media, prompting an immediate investigation by Beltarodi Police.
Using CCTV footage and the vehicle’s registration details, police traced the car and questioned the woman at her residence. The inquiry confirmed that no kidnapping had taken place and that the incident stemmed from a disagreement and playful interaction among friends.
Police have urged citizens not to believe or circulate unverified rumours or viral videos on social media without confirming the facts.
