NAGPUR: Nagpur’s iconic Ravan Dahan celebration at Kasturchand Park is set to mark its 75th anniversary with five days of festivities from October 16 to 20, 2026. Organised by the Sanatan Dharma Yuvak Sabha, the platinum jubilee celebrations will feature cultural programmes, a special Ramleela presentation and the traditional burning of giant effigies of Ravan, Kumbhakarna and Meghnad.
The annual event is one of Nagpur’s prominent Dussehra traditions. This year, organisers have planned an expanded programme, with cultural performances scheduled ahead of the main Ravan Dahan ceremony on October 20.
Ramleela with Audio-Visual Effects and Fire Show
The celebrations will begin on October 16 with a Bhajan Jamming programme. A grand Ramleela will follow on October 17, 18 and 19.
According to the organisers, the Ramleela will incorporate audio-visual effects and a fire show to bring key episodes from the Ramayana to life. They say this format is being introduced for the first time at the event.
Entry to these cultural programmes will be free for the public.
75-Foot Ravan Effigy to Be the Main Attraction
The highlight of the platinum jubilee celebrations will be the burning of three towering effigies:
- Ravan: 75 feet
- Kumbhakarna: 65 feet
- Meghnad: 55 feet
The main Ravan Dahan ceremony will take place on October 20 at Kasturchand Park. According to the organisers, entry for the main event will be arranged through donation passes.
Mohan Bhagwat, Nitin Gadkari and CM Devendra Fadnavis Invited
Vinay Oberoi, president of the Sanatan Dharma Yuvak Sabha, said special invitations had been extended to Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Dr Mohan Bhagwat, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Padma Shri awardee Satyanarayan Molwal.
Their attendance at the celebrations has not been confirmed in the information provided by the organisers.
75 Years of Nagpur’s Dussehra Tradition
The organisers said the event aims to promote the ideals and values associated with Lord Ram while preserving a long-standing cultural tradition in Nagpur.
Oberoi appealed to residents to participate in the platinum jubilee celebrations and make the 75th anniversary memorable.
With four days of cultural programmes followed by the grand effigy-burning ceremony on October 20, the Kasturchand Park festivities are expected to draw devotees and visitors from across Nagpur and neighbouring areas.
