
Nagpur: The Nagpur District (City) Karate Team is all set to participate in the prestigious “Maharashtra State Sub-Junior, Cadet and Junior Karate Championship – 2026”, scheduled to be held on May 9 and 10 at the Divisional Sports Complex, Adgaon Naka, Nashik, Maharashtra.
The championship will witness participation from top karate players across Maharashtra in various categories including Individual Kumite, Individual Kata, Team Kumite and Team Kata for both boys and girls.
The Nagpur contingent comprises Sub-Junior players aged 6 to 13 years, Cadet category participants aged 14 to 15 years, and Junior category athletes aged 16 to 17 years.
The event holds significant importance as gold medal winners from the championship will earn selection to represent Maharashtra in the upcoming “KIO All India Sub-Junior, Cadet and Junior Karate Championship – 2026”, which is scheduled to take place in Dehradun from June 4 to June 7, 2026.
The Nagpur City Karate Team is participating under the leadership and guidance of Dr. Zakir S. Khan, President of the Karate-Do Association of Nagpur District (KAND).
The coaching responsibilities are being handled by Emmanuel Philip and Sachin Lohakare, while Shiraz Syed is serving as the Team Manager.
The team expressed confidence and determination ahead of the state-level championship and aims to bring laurels to Nagpur city.
