Nagpur: A get-together of nine friends from the 2013 GRP batch turned tragic after a railway police employee died in a swimming pool accident at a farmhouse in Kuhi taluka.
The deceased has been identified as Sachin Ghanshyam Avari, 38, a resident of Gayatri Nagar, Sachin Layout, Zingabai Takli, Mankapur, Nagpur.
According to police, the incident occurred around midnight on September 30 at Bal Giri Farm, located in the Mouza Sonegaon area of Kuhi tehsil. Sachin had gone to the farmhouse with eight of his batchmates for their annual get-together following Ganesh immersion.
The group of nine friends left Nagpur in three cars at around 9 pm and reached the farmhouse at approximately 10.15 pm. After preparing and having dinner together, the friends entered the swimming pool.
At around 1.30 am to 1.45 am, Sachin reportedly jumped into the pool and sustained a serious injury to his head. He subsequently died in the incident, police said.
The incident was reported to Kuhi police, who reached the spot and initiated the necessary proceedings. An accidental death case (ADR) has been registered, and further investigation is being conducted by Kuhi police.
