Atharv Wadibhasme Seriously Injured in Manish Nagar Attack; Police Hunt for Two More Suspects
Nagpur: A dispute over the removal of a group of youths from a Garba event allegedly escalated into a knife attack in the Ajni police station limits of Nagpur. The incident took place on the night of October 19 near Suresh Ground, close to Rudra Bar in the Manish Nagar area. The victim, Atharv Wadibhasme, sustained serious injuries and is undergoing treatment at the Trauma Centre of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). Ajni police have arrested two accused, while a search is underway for two other suspects.
According to the complaint, a Garba event was underway at Suresh Ground on the night of October 19 when some youths allegedly arrived in an intoxicated state and began abusing people. They were subsequently removed from the venue with the assistance of bouncers.
The incident reportedly led to an argument between the complainant, Krishna Baradia, and the youths involved. The group later left the venue, but the dispute did not end there.
The prime accused, identified as Tejas Dhenge, allegedly called the complainant and asked him to come to the spot along with his friend, Atharv Wadibhasme. The argument reportedly resumed over the earlier incident involving their removal from the Garba event.
During the confrontation, Atharv was allegedly attacked with a knife. He suffered two to three stab wounds to the chest, leaving him seriously injured.
Atharv was initially taken to Taywade Hospital for treatment. Following preliminary medical care, he was shifted to the Trauma Centre at GMCH, where he continues to receive treatment.
Ajni police have arrested Tejas Dhenge and Altaf Alam Ansari in connection with the case. Two other alleged accomplices are yet to be traced.
Police have registered a case under charges including attempt to murder and other relevant legal provisions. Further investigation is underway.
