Nagpur District farmers cry for bright Sunshine as crops damaged in crores, Mukul Wasnik Reviews losses.

The Rain God’s and Mother Nature’s fury jointly proved disastrous as a massive 50 per cent of crops like cotton, soybean, paddy (rice), tur in 60305 hectares of agriculture lands were damaged “beyond repair”. Similarly, 50 per cent of various other Monsoon related crops in 52620 hectares of farm lands “washed away” to the point of no return. In simple words: Loss in crores and crores.  600 kilometers of roads have been cleaned and cleared by hammering rain water totally. Eight more people were killed in the district’s Ramtek, Bhiwapur, Kamptee, Hingana  towns.

Nagpur News: The initial delight by a good rainfall that brought broad smiles for thirsty citizens across the Nagpur District in general, and farmers in particular, was washed away. The heavy to very very heavy rains turned the initial delight into lasting disaster for farmers of the Nagpur District. Now, the wet drought situation has been forcing the farmers’ fraternity to cry for a bright sunshine as crops worth crores and crores have been submerged and, subsequently, damaged. A heavy splash of rain water on faces of farmers turned the smiling faces into grimaced at one mighty watery stroke.

The other heavy toll, apart from crops, the “sea of rainfall” took is in the form and shape of roads and bridges. The Nagpur District has network of roads in 2964 kilometers in rural areas and 285 kilometers of main roads. Out of these roads, 600 kilometers of roads have been cleaned and cleared by hammering rain water totally. Now, there is no sign of roads at the stretches of 600 kilometers.

The figures of battered and bruised tell a tale of trouble for mankind.  A whopping 152 villages or small towns witnessed the natural blizzard from very close. A total of 4766 families, not individuals, got a rainy and windy hit making the homeless as 454 housed were inflicted with “injuries” of serious nature. The occupants of these house, hope, must have been removed to safer places. 10 houses could not withstand the onslaught of rain fury and refused to stand tall and collapsed, fortunately, without any casualty. But very unfortunately, 84 different cattle heads perished.

However, the report would not be complete without mentioning the human deaths. Eight more people were killed in the district’s Ramtek, Bhiwapur, Kamptee, Hingana  towns. Seven persons were washed away in flooded waters, and a person died of snake bite.

RAMTEK MP MUKUL WASNIK REVIEWS LOSSES DONE BY RAIN

Mukul Wasnik, the Ramtek MP called a meeting to review the losses caused by the unprecedented rainfall in Nagpur District. The meeting was held at Ravi Bhavan and was attended apart from Wasnik, Collector Saurabh Rao, NMC Commissioner Shyam Wardhane, ZP CEO Pradeep P and others.

Wasnik said the rains have claimed lives of some persons whose kith and kin require immediate Government help. Similarly, the rain water creates havoc in the low-lying  areas causing untold suffering to people there every year. A permanent solution to this problem needed on war-footing.

The meeting discussed several rain related problems and resolving them non an urgent basis. All the rescue and relief operations should be carried out in coordination various government agencies in a profession manner so that losses could be in minimum proportions.
