Nagpur: Police continued their crackdown on illegal hookah parlours in Nagpur with a late-night raid at Texas Smoking Shop in the Dighori area under Wathoda Police Station limits. The special police team reportedly busted an illegally operated hookah parlour and seized cash and hookah-related materials worth ₹94,240.
According to police, information was received that the shop located in Dighori on Umred Road was allegedly providing prohibited tobacco-based hookah to customers without the required legal permission. Acting on the information, a special team conducted a raid at around 2:30 am in the presence of panch witnesses.
During the raid, shop manager Omkar Sandeep Madavi was allegedly found providing prohibited tobacco-based hookah to customers. When police asked for the necessary licence or permission, no valid document was produced. During the inquiry, police learned that the shop was owned by Avinash Parvatlal Pandey.

A search of the premises led to the seizure of ₹38,100 in cash, hookah pots of different sizes, pipes, various flavoured tobacco products and other related materials. The total value of the seized property has been estimated at ₹94,240.
A case has been registered against the shop owner and manager at Wathoda Police Station under relevant provisions of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) and the Maharashtra Police Act.
Police are investigating how long the alleged illegal hookah operation had been running and whether others were involved in the business.
The action was carried out by a joint team of the special police unit and Wathoda Police under the guidance of Police Commissioner Vishwas Nangre Patil.
