Nagpur: A shocking incident of violence over an unpaid debt has come to light from Dahegaon Rangari under the jurisdiction of Khaparkheda Police Station in Nagpur district. A pan stall operator was allegedly stabbed after asking a customer to clear his pending dues. The victim sustained serious injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital. Police have arrested the accused.
According to police sources, Rahul Moreshwar Bhoyar was sitting at his pan stall located beneath the flyover in Dahegaon Rangari along with his friend Pranay Shrivas when the accused, identified as Roopchand alias Kattar Ravidas, arrived at the stall and asked for kharra (a tobacco preparation).
Rahul reportedly asked Roopchand to first clear his outstanding dues before taking any more items on credit. This led to a heated argument between the two.
What began as a verbal altercation quickly turned violent. In a fit of rage, the accused allegedly threatened Rahul, pulled out a knife, and stabbed him in the abdomen. The sudden attack created panic in the area, with bystanders rushing to help the injured man.
Rahul, who suffered serious injuries in the assault, was immediately shifted to a hospital for treatment. His condition is reported to be critical.
The entire incident was reportedly captured on CCTV cameras installed at the pan stall, providing crucial evidence for the investigation.
Based on a complaint lodged by eyewitness Pranay Shrivas, Khaparkheda Police registered a case of attempt to murder against the accused. Following the attack, Roopchand fled the scene, but police launched a search operation and succeeded in arresting him within two days.
Police officials stated that the accused has a criminal history and has been booked in multiple cases in the past. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
