The PG Department of Fashion Design, L.A.D. & Smt. R.P. College for Women, Nagpur, in collaboration with Symbiosis Institute of Design, Wathoda, celebrated National Handloom Day under the aegis of the Weavers’ Service Centre, Nagpur.
The programme was inaugurated by Prof. Kavita Jadhao, Shri Sandeep Thubrikar, Deputy Director, Weavers’ Service Centre, and Dr. Meeta Siddhu, Director, Symbiosis Institute of Design. Dr. Pooja Pathak, Principal, L.A.D. College, was the Guest of Honour, while Dr. Harsha Jharia, CAO, Women’s Education Society, and Mrs. Nidhi Gandhi, Proprietor, Gandhi Handloom, were Special Guests.

A panel discussion on “Employment and Entrepreneurship Opportunities in the Handloom Sector in Contemporary Times” was moderated by Dr. Meeta Siddhu, with Dr. Harsha Jharia, Shri Sandeep Thubrikar, Mrs. Nidhi Gandhi and Dr. Vandana Menon as panellists.
The highlight was “Handloom Sutra – The Walk of Weaves,” featuring 20 traditional handloom saree drapes presented by L.A.D. students, followed by regional drapes of India showcased by students of Symbiosis Institute of Design.
A handloom quiz conducted by Shri Sandeep Thubrikar He also distributed Prizes, and gifts to participants. Vibhavari Gotmare,Rakshata Potdukhe and Sonal Trivedi worked hard for the programme
