Nagpur: A 66-year-old businessman from Ramdaspeth has lodged a complaint with Bajaj Nagar Police after being duped of ₹25 lakh by two individuals who falsely promised to secure a top post and lucrative benefits in a government power company.
The complainant, Satish Mohanlal Laddadh (66), a resident of Nirmal Ganga Apartment, Ramdaspeth, runs S K Sales Corporation, which supplies materials and services to government power companies. His old friend, Rajendra Kumar Shriwas, had earlier retired from a senior position in the Chhattisgarh State Power Company.
The accused, identified as Shubham Agarwal of Raipur and his sister Shivani Garg of Nagpur, approached Laddadh with a fraudulent proposal. They claimed that, with the help of Shriwas, Laddadh could be appointed as the Managing Director of Chhattisgarh State Power Company. They further assured him that he would receive shares in the company and major contracts.
Believing their assurances, Laddadh was told the deal would cost ₹50 lakh. He transferred ₹25 lakh into their account as the first installment. However, when he later discussed the matter with Shriwas, he was informed that such a post could not be bought.
On demanding his money back, Laddadh allegedly received vague responses from the accused, who ultimately refused repayment.
Based on his complaint, Bajaj Nagar Police have registered a case under Sections 316(2) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). An investigation is underway.
