Nagpur: The Social Security Department of Nagpur Crime Branch has taken action against 13 hotel and lodge operators for allegedly using the OYO brand name and logo without authorisation. FIRs have been registered against the operators at various police stations across the city.

The action was initiated following a complaint by Narendra Suresh Kharve, the nodal officer of OYO Hotels & Homes Private Limited.
According to the complaint, the hotel operators allegedly used the OYO brand name and logo for commercial purposes without permission and earned financial benefits through the unauthorised use of the trademark. Police also alleged that the operators violated conditions laid down in the Nagpur Police Commissioner’s circular concerning hotels and lodges.

Action Under BNS and Trademark Law
According to police, cases have been registered against the accused under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Trade Marks Act.
The Crime Branch has launched further investigations into all the cases to ascertain the extent of the alleged unauthorised use of the OYO brand and other violations.
