Nagpur: A donation box containing offerings made by devotees during the Ganesh festival has allegedly gone missing from the premises of Shri Adarsh Bal Ganesh Mandal at Chandrashekhar Azad Chowk in Nagpur. The mandal’s watchman, identified as Ganesh Raipurkar, allegedly left the premises carrying the donation box and did not return.
Mandal office-bearers have lodged a complaint at Lakadganj Police Station, seeking an investigation and recovery of the donation box and the money inside it.

Incident Captured on CCTV
According to the complaint submitted to police on September 23, Raipurkar, who was working as the watchman at the mandal, allegedly took the donation box from the premises on September 21, 2026.
The mandal members reportedly suspect that the box contained money donated by devotees during the Ganesh festival.
The complaint also states that the incident was captured on CCTV cameras. The mandal office-bearers have informed police that the relevant footage is available and can be provided to investigators as required.
Police are examining the CCTV footage to trace the movements of the person allegedly carrying the donation box and determine the sequence of events.
Amount Inside Donation Box Yet to Be Confirmed
According to the mandal office-bearers, the donation box was used to collect contributions from devotees. However, the exact amount of money inside the box has not yet been established.
Lakadganj Police have begun an investigation based on the complaint, CCTV footage and statements of the people associated with the mandal. Further legal action will follow based on the findings of the investigation.
